This Weekend, We're Matching All Food Pantry Donations up to $1K

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

$7,564 and Counting! Our drive to benefit The Food Pantries For the Capital District runs through the end of the year, and this weekend, your donations will go even further: We're matching every dollar raised up to $1,000! Will you help us beat last year's total of $10K? Small print: Donations matched for Saturday, December 22nd and Sunday, December 23rd

Our register drive for The Food Pantries for the Capital District has been going on for just over six weeks now, and we've raised $7,564 and counting! Wow--thanks to everyone who has donated so far! Our walls are covered with the names of folks who chose to give a little (or a lot) to help feed our neighbors in need.

We want to finish the year strong, and so in the spirit of holiday giving, Honest Weight will match all donations this weekend- Saturday, December 22nd and Sunday, December 23rd, up to $1,000! Your donation will work doubletime!

Clare, one of The Food Pantries' wonderful volunteers, will be here from 11-1pm on Thursday, December 19th, to talk about ending hunger in the Capital District

So stop and talk to Clare or stop by this weekend! Make good use of our holiday coupons, buy some treats for you and your loved ones, and give a dollar at checkout--we'll make it two!

From our previous blog post, here are three ways to help feed the hungry in the Capital District this holiday season!

1. Help Honest Weight raise funds with your donation next time you shop!

Every time you shop at Honest Weight from today through December 31st, you’ll have the option to purchase a donation card for just $1 and help provide as much as 6.25 pounds of food to our neighbors who need it. 100% of your donation, whether you buy one donation card or ten, will go to The Food Pantries for the Capital District.

2. Donate Food

You can also donate to The Food Pantries of the Capital District at Honest Weight by dropping nonperishable food items into the marked bin at the store's exit. Just buy a little extra something, drop it in the can, and they'll pick it up and make sure it gets to someone's table this holiday season.

3. Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of the fight against hunger. For information about volunteering with The Food Pantries for the Capital District or with one of their member organizations, visit their website or contact volunteer@thefoodpantries.org or 518-458-1167 x11.
