Curiosity Walks
By Anastasia Rodgers
What does one do when seeking adventure but wanting to avoid traveling to find it? Whether transportation is a factor or you are simply looking to reduce your carbon footprint, a curiosity walk is just around the corner!
It can be very easy to slip into the routine of your known paths when walking around your neighborhood. That routine can get boring for you and your canine companion! When I find myself bored or unmotivated to explore walkable destinations, I like to challenge myself to a curiosity walk.
I embark on the journey as I would any other walk; instead of taking the usual route, I challenge myself to walk until I find something I’ve never seen before! Curiosity walks have led me to new murals and unexpected collections of tiny things, and sometimes they lead me to somewhere I already recognize, but in a new or more beautiful light, depending on the time of day! An excellent side effect of a Curiosity Walk is that I find myself looking at my phone less and taking in the everyday magic of my city.
