Work With Us to Feed the Hungry

In Albany, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Counties over 78,000 people are food insecure. 24,000 are babies and children.*

So what can we do about it? Here are three ways to help feed the hungry in the Capital District this holiday season!

1. Raise Funds

Every time you shop at Honest Weight from today through December 31st, you’ll have the option to purchase a donation card for just $1 and help provide as much as 6.25 pounds of food to our neighbors who need it. 100% of your donation, whether you buy one donation card or ten, will go to The Food Pantries for the Capital District.

2. Donate Food

You can also donate to The Food Pantries of the Capital District at Honest Weight by dropping nonperishable food items into the marked bin at the store's exit. Just buy a little extra something, drop it in the can, and they'll pick it up and make sure it gets to someone's table this holiday season.

3. Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of the fight against hunger. For information about volunteering with The Food Pantries for the Capital District or with one of their member organizations, visit their website or contact volunteer@thefoodpantries.org or 518-458-1167 x11.

The Food Pantries for the Capital District is a coalition of more than 60 food pantries in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties. They provide funding, delivery, coordination of services and food drives, and education and training to their affiliated food pantries, free of charge.

The Food Pantries of the Capital District relies on the generosity and support of caring individuals and businesses to supply their food pantries with enough food to help feed the hungry in our communities. Every gift has immediate impact and remains local.
