You can help feed
your hungry neighbors!

Beginning on Friday, June
1, Honest Weight will partner with The Food Pantries for the Capital
District in helping collect donations of food items and personal
hygiene products for distribution to those in need in our local
communities.
Many area families and individuals are currently experiencing food
insecurity and struggling to meet basic needs. The Food Pantries for
the Capital District is an Albany- based coalition of food pantries
whose mission is to alleviate the burden of hunger for food-challenged
people in our area communities.
Honest Weight would like to support and assist that mission in an
ongoing way. The Co-op will now be providing space in the store for a
Food Pantries donation bin and encouraging our members and other
customers to make a contribution whenever you shop at the Co-op, or
whenever you are able. Even a single item will make a difference for
someone.
The bin will be stationed in the Co-op’s newly refurbished recycling
area, just to the left as you enter the store, and will remain in place
for as long as it continues to be filled. We hope that means "always!"
To help guide you in selecting products for donation, The Food Pantries
has provided a list of most-needed items from which to choose:
• Canned fruits, vegetables, soups, beans
• Canned tuna
• Boxed: cereal, crackers, pasta, rice, oatmeal, granola bars, mac
& cheese and other prepared food mixes
• Pre-packaged dried fruits
• Personal hygiene items: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, diapers,
toilet paper
