HWFC joins 6,000 at N.J. Save Organics Rally

On March 5th, about 30 Albany-area citizens traveled with the HWFC-sponsored Save Organic Standards campaign to the Livingston, N.J. campus of Rutgers University for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s only East Coast public hearing on the proposed National Organic Program.

Shade Grown Coffee . . .  for the (sake of the) birds

Shade grown coffee.  What is it.  Does Honest Weight carry it?  Should we care?  Recently, the Co-op began getting such questions.  I talked with all of our suppliers, and the naturalist/scientific community as well.  I am now beginning to understand the concept of “shade grown coffee” and why it is important to consumers.
