Suggestion Box

Q.Any chance for a bigger building for growing coop? Parking is tough.

A. We are currently looking for a location for a second store and we’re also working on a plan for remodeling this store. We hope these steps alleviate some of the current congestion.

Q.HaBA and all departments — Please remind price labelers to not put stickers on top of ingredients lists and nutrition charts.

A. We strive to avoid covering important info on the labels. We will remind our workers to place stickers more carefully.

Q.Where’s the knitting group? I showed up but there wasn’t anyone in the café. Is it defunct?

A. Perhaps it has dissolved. Would you like to act as a catalyst to get it going again.

Q.Please reduce the size of bulk yeast bags by a half. No matter how avid a baker you are, the yeast loses it’s activeness4 very quickly.

A. We will try to offer a variety of sizes.

Q.The café chairs are really filthy. Please could someone clean them on a regular basis?

A. OK. We’ll pass this on to our member workers.

Q.Wheat free scones — as much as possible!

A. We currently make them three times a week and will try to get them out more frequently.

Q.My household is currently receiving two pieces of mail/mailing. One for my husband, one for myself.

A. We have a form available at the service counter for people who wish to avoid duplicate mailings.

Q.Drop the gnarley toys in the kids coop — dirty stuffed animals.

A. We need a member worker to take over this area. Any volunteers?

Q.Why aren’t there enough tables in the café for eating?

A. We will purchase a table to use for food demos, so that will get us one more. When we do our remodeling we will have a larger café with increased seating.

Q.I miss the organic Bolivia Coffee. Can you bring it back?

A. Equal Exchange is out of Bolivian beans. They’ll have more eventually. In the in-between time our buyer will carry a locally roasted High Peaks Java Bolivian Blend. Enjoy!

Q.Please check the dates on bulk stuff like raisins and lecithin. I bought a pack date of 1/10 — and it’s 2/25!

A. We prefer to sell items within one month of the packdate. Raisins will keep for at least 6 months. We will gladly refund or exchange products.

Q.Can we get a youth magazine for boys?

A. We have not seen one available. We’ll keep our eyes open.

Q.The Coop carries “commercial” catnip, which I regard as “Ohio Rope Weed.” How about stocking the real thing without the sticks and stems?

A. We have noticed the quantity of sticks & stems in the commercial catnip and will speak to our distributor about this. In the meantime, have you checked out the organic catnip or the packaged ones with pet supplies?

Q.If the room at the rear is a lunch room, could office use be curbed between 11–2?

A. We are in a serious crunch for office space and we try to help people work at hours that are convenient for them. We will do what we can to improve the situation.

Q.Can you get boneless/skinless sardines?

A. People here seem to prefer the ones with skin and bones for the extra nutrition. We’ve tried the boneless/ skinless in the past with limited success.

Q.Let’s make a recipe book of the great foods cooked at deli service.

A. We gave Nicole your email. We’re glad you appreciate our selections.

Q.I was told by an employee that HWFC would not be carrying Son Pellegrino sodas because they were owned by Nestle and the store was boycotting Nestle products. Doesn’t it seem silly at this point in the Coop’s history to continue this boycott? I have no love of Nestle, but are they any worse than Phillip Morris, Coca- Cola or other big companies that the Coop carries products by?

A. You may preorder Son Pellegrino sodas. On the boycott issue, would you like to join our product selection committee? See Nicole!
