News at a Glanceby Nancy Ellegate The HWFC Board of Directors met on Wednesday, February 27. Additional Shopping Hours The General Manager requested authorization to be able to open the store earlier and to offer a 2% discount to shoppers who shop before 10 am. The Board agreed. The purpose of this measure is to ease congestion in the store and the parking lot later in the day. The only cost will be an additional cashier and the amount of the discount. The General Manager will decide when these early shopping opportunities will be held. (NOTE: It was later decided not to offer the discount.-ED.) Member Labor A Board member requested a report on non-traditional work done for member hours. The General Manager has been doing a study of member labor and will present this material in the future. A motion passed giving member work hours for the two-hour New Member Orientation for those new members who work their first shift within one month of this orientation. Events The Coop won prizes at the American Lung Association Chili Cook-off held in Albany: first prize for Vegetarian Chili and second prize for Most Creative Chili (for a fruit and nut chili).
